Advanced Features & GKM Practices
Section titled “Advanced Features & GKM Practices”Stage Screens
Section titled “Stage Screens”- Purpose: Provide customized views for people on stage (musicians, speakers) showing things like current/next slide text, clocks, timers, chord charts, custom messages.
- Configuration: Set up via
Screens > Configure Screens. Define screen outputs and assign layouts. - Layout Editor: Accessed via
More > Stage Editor. Design different layouts using various data objects.
Looks & Audience Screens
Section titled “Looks & Audience Screens”- Purpose: Control which layers (media, slides, props, messages, etc.) are visible on which audience-facing screens. Allows for different content on main screens vs. live stream feeds.
- Configuration: Accessed via
Screens > Edit Looks. Create presets that define layer visibility for each screen. Looks can be applied globally or triggered by Actions on specific slides.
Actions & Macros
Section titled “Actions & Macros”- Purpose: Automate tasks by adding actions to slides. When a slide with an action is clicked, the action triggers automatically.
- Examples: Clearing layers, changing stage display layouts, triggering timers, sending MIDI cues, changing Looks.
- Adding Actions: In Edit mode, select a slide, go to the Slide Notes/Actions panel (often below the slide), click ’+’, and choose the desired action.
- Macros: A sequence of multiple actions triggered by clicking a single slide, often indicated by an ‘M’ icon on the slide.
- GKM Note: Pay attention to slides with action icons (lightning bolt, ‘M’, etc.), especially the first slide of a presentation, as these often set up important configurations for that item. Click the first slide to ensure these actions run.
Timers, Messages, Props
Section titled “Timers, Messages, Props”- Accessed via the Show Controls toolbar.
- Timers: Countdown, count up, elapsed time. Can be displayed on stage screens.
- Messages: Display pre-defined or custom messages (e.g., “Nursery Call 123”) on audience or stage screens.
- Props: Overlay semi-persistent items like logos or lower thirds onto the screen, independent of the main slide content.
Spontaneous Songs (GKM)
Section titled “Spontaneous Songs (GKM)”(Based on GKM Guide PDF) *
- Search: Use the Search function (Cmd+F / Ctrl+F) to find the requested song in the Library.
- Drag to Playlist: Drag the song from the search results into the current playlist, placing it where needed (e.g., after the current song).
- Select & Go: Click the first slide of the added song to start displaying it.
- Reflow (If Needed): If lyrics need quick reformatting (e.g., splitting lines), use the Reflow editor. Right-click the song > Reflow. Make adjustments and return to Show mode.
Impromptu Bible Verses (GKM)
Section titled “Impromptu Bible Verses (GKM)”(Based on GKM Guide PDF) *
- Bible Mode: Click the ‘Bible’ button in the toolbar.
- Lookup: Enter the scripture reference.
- Select Theme: Ensure the correct GKM Bible theme is selected.
- Show: Click the desired verse(s) to display them immediately. They will show using the selected theme.
- (Optional) Add to Sermon: If the verse needs to be added permanently to the sermon notes, select the verses, click ‘Copy to Selected Presentation’, ensure the sermon presentation is selected, and the verses will be added as new slides.
