1. Getting Started
Section titled “1. Getting Started”Download the App
Section titled “Download the App”- Download the KLANG App from your device’s app store. It’s available on multiple platforms.
- Demo Mode: You can explore the app’s features using the built-in Demo Mode even when not connected to the system. This offers a good hands-on experience.
Connect to the Network
Section titled “Connect to the Network”- Crucial Step: Connect your device to the foh q 338 Wi-Fi network.
- The password is found on the stage rack where the microphones are kept.
Connect to Your Mix
Section titled “Connect to Your Mix”- Open the KLANG app.
- Press and hold the Config button.
- Tap Personal.
- VERY IMPORTANT: Select your correct assigned mix (e.g., Bass, Drums, Keys, Vocals). Always ensure you select the correct mix each time you connect, as KLANG doesn’t automatically know your role for the day.
2. Understanding KLANG
Section titled “2. Understanding KLANG”3D Mixing vs. Traditional IEMs
Section titled “3D Mixing vs. Traditional IEMs”- Traditional IEMs use a stereo (left/right) or mono field.
- KLANG utilizes a 3D field, allowing you to place sound sources not just left and right, but also forward and backward.
- KLANG uses EQ adjustments to create this spatial perception.
Why 3D Matters
Section titled “Why 3D Matters”- Maximizing the 3D space helps separate instruments and vocals clearly.
- This separation allows the overall volume of your mix to be lower, protecting your hearing.
- While moving from wedges to IEMs is a big step for hearing protection, using KLANG’s 3D space helps further reduce overall volume levels.
Download KlangApp
Section titled “Download KlangApp”Whether you’re using it on a phone, tablet or computer, the process is essentially the same. Download and install the KlangApp (link below - TODO: Add Link) from your respective app store.
Network
Section titled “Network”Make sure you’re connected to the FOH WiFi network. You’ll probably receive an error message about not having an internet connection, but that’s ok.
Options
Section titled “Options”When you open the app, you’ll be taken to a configuration page. There will be two options: our console or a demo. Select our console - you can try out the demo at home with headphones to get a feel for what’s happening.
Select Your Mix
Section titled “Select Your Mix”The first step is to select your mix, at the top of the app. Always make sure you’re working on the right mix - you don’t want to accidentally adjust someone else’s mix.
