Testimony Video Best Practices
Section titled “Testimony Video Best Practices”Updated June 2024
Thank you for taking the time to share your testimony. We believe sharing what God has done in your life is a powerful way to encourage and inspire others to grow in their faith.
“I will ponder all your work, and meditate on your mighty deeds.” Psalm 77:12 (ESV)
Please take moment to look through this guide to help prepare you to record your testimony.
Preparation
Section titled “Preparation”It often helps to write out your story to help you organize your thoughts. Use the following points as a basic framework.
- Introduce yourself.
- Share a little about your life before the experience occurred. What led up to God’s intervention in the situation?
- What did God do, that change the outcome or gave you assurance?
- How did you feel when God came through for you in that moment?
- How did it change the way you lived?
- How would you encourage others based on this experience?
It’s important to clearly share what happened in sequence, so those watching can follow along. Dates and names aren’t as important - the events and experiences are.
Practice recounting the story from memory in front of a mirror.
Recording
Section titled “Recording”Please review the attached “Dressing for the Camera” section for the dress code and some best practices.
You’ll meet with someone from our digital team to help you go through the testimony. They’ll make suggestions on how it can come across more clearly to our church community.
Being in front the camera can be nervewraking, but don’t worry! We’re here to support you. If you need to pause for a moment or take a break, that’s okay - just ask!
Distribution
Section titled “Distribution”We have a number of places to share your testimony. Every video will be posted on our YouTube channel and website. Depending on the content and timining, they may also be played on a Sunday Morning. We’ll let you know when and where once the video has been edited.
